VIA EPIA Serie

Vorreiter und Namensgeber für Mini-ITX sind die EPIA Mainboards von VIA. Auf einer nur 17 x 17cm kleinen Platine befindet sich alles, was für einen PC benötigt wird. Dabei sind die Boards sogar in normalen ATX oder Mini-ATX Gehäusen zu verwenden. Doch Ihre Besonderheiten können Sie erst in speziellen Gehäusen ausspielen, da in einer solchen Kombination sehr kleine und ruhige PC-Systeme entstehen. Sogar geräuschlose Systeme sind durch Einsatz von DOC (DiskOnChip), DOM (DiskOnModule) oder Compact Flash Karten als Festplatte oder Booten über LAN möglich. Auch booten über USB ist für Floppy, CD-ROM, ZIP, etc. als Feature im BIOS anzuwählen.

Das EPIA Board enthält einen Steckplatz für Front USB mit 2mm Pfostenstecker - Anschluss, der nur im Morex Cubid 2688 genutzt werden kann, nicht in anderen Gehäusen mit Front USB. Es geht hierbei nur um die Abmessungen des Pfostensteckers, elektrisch gibt es keine Probleme. Für das EPIA-V Board ist hierbei das Morex Cubid 2688V vorgesehen, um die Front USB Anschlüsse nutzen zu können. Im Morex Cubid 2699 laufen alle VIA EPIA Mainboards. Die EPIA-M Boards passen mechanisch nicht in die Morex Cubid 2677/88 Gehäuse.

VIA EPIA-M Serie

Seit Dezember 2002 auf dem Markt ist das neue VIA EPIA-M (Multimedia) Board, welches die Produkpalette erweitert. In einem höheren Preissegment angesiedelt findet man neben höheren Frequenzen bei diesen Boards MPEG2 Unterstützung im Chipsatz, DDR-RAM Unterstützung, USB 2.0 und Firewire. Bitte beachten Sie, dass diese Mainboards aufgrund anders angeordneter Anschlüsse und andere OnBoard Stecker nicht in die Gehäuse Morex Cubid 2677/88 und Chyang Fun CF-7989 passen. Verwenden Sie die passenden Gehäuse Morex Cubid 2699, Chyang Fun 7989-M und Chyang Fun CF-S668W.

VIA EPIA-V Serie

Seit Januar 2003 auf dem Markt ist das neue VIA EPIA-V Board, welches die Produkpalette erweitert. Das Board entspricht weitgehend dem EPIA Mainboard der ersten Serie, es wurde lediglich ein IDE Stecker durch einen Floppy Anschluß ersetzt.

Das EPIA-V Board enthält einen Steckplatz für Front USB mit 2.56mm Pfostenstecker - Anschluss, der nicht im Morex Cubid 2688 genutzt werden kann, aber in anderen Gehäusen mit Front USB. Es geht hierbei nur um die Abmessungen des Pfostensteckers, elektrisch gibt es keine Probleme.

Von der Firma Commell (http://www.commell.com.tw) gibt es Mini-ITX Mainboards für den Pentium 4, Pentium M und Pentium 4 Mobile. Der Pentium 4 Mobile und der Pentium M ermöglichen damit auch den Aufbau von Systemen mit geringem Leistungsbedarf (z.B. in Gehäusen mit lüfterlosen Netzteilen ab 60 Watt) und für Bastler auch die Möglichkeit der Passivkühlung über ein Gehäuse mit ausreichend großem Kühlkörper.
